Build the realms with us
EnGarde Games is hiring six people in 2026. We're a small, deliberate team building a connected medieval-fantasy world across three game forms — CCG, RPG, and tabletop. If you want to ship something you'd play on a Saturday, read on.

Six roles. Click Apply on any card to send your CV — please include a play history (favourite games, longest campaign) alongside your portfolio.
Own the mechanical heart of EnGarde — the CCG turn structure, RPG action economy, and how the three game forms speak to each other. You're a designer who plays competitively and reads dictionaries for fun.
- Design new card sets, expansions, and seasons across the CCG and tabletop.
- Run weekly playtest sessions and synthesise data into rule updates.
- Pair with the RPG team to keep the world coherent across systems.
- Author public design diaries on patch notes and meta shifts.
- 5+ years shipping competitive or strategy games (digital, tabletop, or CCG).
- Published designs we can read — sets, expansions, mods, or pen-and-paper systems.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, basic stats, and balance maths.
- Bonus: tournament judging, formal game-theory background.
Take the boxed tabletop game and the booster-pack range from launch through retail. Build relationships with hobby distributors, friendly local game stores, and the conventions that anchor our community.
- Sign distribution deals across EU, UK, North America, and APAC.
- Negotiate booth space and tournament hosting with conventions.
- Run our wholesale and direct-to-consumer pricing strategy.
- Own the sales forecast against the operations team's run sizes.
- 5+ years in hobby-games, toy, or tabletop sales — distributor side or publisher side.
- An existing network of FLGS, distributor, and convention contacts.
- Fluent English; one other EU language a plus.
- Bonus: prior launch of a CCG or boxed game from zero to retail.
Own the public voice of EnGarde — launches, expansion drops, the streamer program, and the Chronicle zine. Bring our world to people who'd love it but haven't found it yet.
- Plan and execute four launch beats a year (CCG sets, RPG supplements).
- Run the partner-creator program — outreach, briefs, payments.
- Edit the quarterly Chronicle zine and the public Codex updates.
- Brief paid-media partners and own the channel reports.
- 4+ years marketing for games, hobby goods, or entertainment IP.
- Tactile sense for fantasy/medieval aesthetics; storytelling instinct.
- Comfort writing as well as briefing.
- Bonus: tabletop-community experience (Discord moderation, convention work).
Run the live narrative spine of EnGarde. Design season-long story arcs, host livestreamed flagship tables, and quietly mentor a growing roster of community GMs.
- Design and run the season-spanning Aetherial Tide story arc.
- Host a weekly livestreamed campaign at the official table.
- Write NPC briefs, encounter packs, and the GM Companion booklet.
- Train and certify partner-creator GMs to run sanctioned tables.
- 3+ years GMing long-form RPG campaigns; ideally on stream.
- Published RPG content (Patreon, DriveThruRPG, or comparable).
- Strong on-camera presence; calm under improv pressure.
- Bonus: voice-acting range, conlang or worldbuilding side projects.
Set the long-arc creative direction across the three game forms and protect the throughline. You're the person who decides what EnGarde is — and what it never becomes.
- Maintain the multi-year creative roadmap across CCG, RPG, and tabletop.
- Run the cross-discipline review board: design, art, narrative, audio.
- Author the seasonal "thesis" memo every team aligns to.
- Represent EnGarde publicly — keynotes, podcasts, journalist briefings.
- 8+ years senior creative leadership on hobby-games or IP-led products.
- A finished, beloved product you led from blank page to shipping.
- Comfort holding firm on craft while still listening to data.
- Bonus: published author, illustrator, or composer in fantasy/sci-fi space.
Build the player-facing AI features inside EnGarde — the NPC dialogue engine, the GM assistant, balance-suggestion tooling — under our published ethics rules. Player content is off-limits to training; transparency is mandatory.
- Own the AI service that powers NPC text, deck-suggestion, and balance hints.
- Integrate with our preferred providers (Anthropic, others) behind a stable API.
- Build internal tooling for designers to prompt-engineer game content.
- Ship the disclosure layer — every AI-assisted artefact carries a clear label.
- 4+ years Python / TypeScript engineering, with at least 1 year shipping LLM features in production.
- Practical grasp of evals, prompt caching, rate-limiting, and cost control.
- Care about model-output safety and player-data boundaries.
- Bonus: experience with retrieval, tool-use, or structured-output generation.

What the salary doesn't say:
Why EnGarde Games
EnGarde was founded in 2020 by tabletop veterans who wanted to make a CCG, an RPG, and a wargame that lived in one world. Six years later we're profitable, growing 38% YoY, and we still ship games we'd play with our friends on a Saturday afternoon.
We're small on purpose. About 24 humans, headquartered in Vilnius, scattered across the EU. Decisions move at the speed of a single Slack thread. The CEO plays on the public ladder under their real name.
If you've read the Codex and recognised the tone, you'll probably fit in. If you read it and immediately wanted to fix a typo, definitely.
How we hire
- Application review — we read everything. CV + portfolio + one paragraph on a game you love. Two market days to first response.
- Conversation — 45 minutes, video, with the hiring manager. Not a quiz.
- Craft exercise — paid, time-boxed (~4 hours), shaped to the role. We use it to talk, not to filter.
- Team day — half a day in Vilnius (or remote equivalent). You meet four future colleagues.
- Offer — within one week of the team day. We write everything down.
Don't see your exact role? Write to careers@engarde.lt — we open new positions quietly and prefer people who showed up early.
